CATCHING UP

Updated: Mar 17, 2019

Lot's of new, exciting things, lot's of new fears and stress...

It's been such a long time since I've updated my weekly blog. A lot of things have happened since December...

First off, I have secured my mentor, since I had doubts about whether she was still willing to work with me because I wasn't able to get any responses from her. My first mentor visit was two weeks ago, where I began my first day of observing the nurses and my mentor work with patients. However, that was not my best day because I had passed out after watching the nurses prepare a patient for a blood draw. My mentor was worried for me and wanted to make sure I was okay before I came back. Fortunately, there was nothing wrong with my health, and I was back this past week. I think that I didn't make the best first impression as I could've, but I want to work through that. My second day of observing was great! There were a lot of cases that were unique and seeing patients of all sorts fascinated me.

I'm also in the process of planning out the steps to completing my final work, which is a children's book on vaccines. I'm nervous about this product, because my ISM teacher, my mentor and I have high expectations from myself, and I'm scared that I might not fulfill their standards in the end. But, the only way to get through that fear is to work on it.
